An explosion rocks a South Providence neighborhood, leaving seven first responders injured.
Crews were called to Rugby Street just after 12:30 Saturday morning to a report of an SUV that slammed into a house.
Just minutes after rescue crews arrived, a ruptured gas line exploded, leaving six firefighters and a police officer hurt.
A firefighter and the officer are both being treated at Rhode Island Hospital, but are expected to be released on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses say after the crash happened, the driver and a passenger took of from the scene. Officials are still looking for the driver and cause of the crash.
They are also investigating whether the vehicle was stolen and if the driver was intoxicated.
