PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- Providence city officials are looking into a Federal Hill restaurant in the wake of an alleged altercation between boxer Vinny Paz and two women.

Our news partners at the Providence Journal report that the Board of Licenses is reviewing the case and looking into why the doors were not locked at 2 a.m.

Restaurants with liquor licenses are supposed to close no later than 2 a.m. The police report for the case states that the fight happened well after 2.

The owner of The Bradford tells Eyewitness News the fight broke out just as he was closing.

"I was locking the doors when I saw the physical confrontation and separated the parties, getting them outdoors," said owner Mario Purro.

Paz is accused of hitting a woman in the throat during an argument inside the Federal Hill restaurant. He was arraigned Wednesday on charges of disorderly conduct. Paz is denying the allegations.

As for the Bradford, the restaurant's owner says Paz entered just before closing time and never had a drink in the establishment.

Purro does admit customers were inside his restaurant after closing, but states he was simply keeping them safe from the commotion outside.

The Board of Licenses has not commented on the matter.
