PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - After more than three decades of providing a major part of Rhode Islander's diets, one man has decided to shut the doors for good.
J.A. Siravo Fruit and Produce has been a staple on Providence's East Side for three decades. On Friday, the Siravo's said goodbye to their most faithful customers for the last time.
Owner Joe Siravo and his wife, Noelle, have welcomed customers to their store with a smile. Friday's closing was an emotional time for the Siravo's as they said goodbye to customers who have become friends.
The 69-year-old Siravo decided to close up shop in order to give his body some rest from his 80 hour work week. However, Joe will not be sitting still, as he plans to help with another family business several times a week.
