EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This week on Newsmakers, Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha is answering questions for the first time about the investigation into Curt Schilling's troubled videogame company, 38 Studios.

Neronha confirmed that his office is working with state authorities in an examination of the now defunct videogame company.

"I only have 15 Assistant U.S. Attorneys and we have a lot of areas to cover, so I try to pick those cases where I think there is a significant federal interest that really warrants our resources," Neronha told Target 12 Investigator Tim White during a taping of Newsmakers.

Earlier this week, Bank Rhode Island confirmed state police investigators requested documents through subpoenas. The bank gave 38 Studios $8.5 million in loans for anticipated tax credits that never materialized.

Neronha says generally speaking, that's how these cases begin.

"So, those are the two things you do. You want to get your hands on the records and you want to talk to people who may have knowledge and then those things tend to lead to additional documents."

You can watch Tim White's complete interview with U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha Sunday at 5:30 a.m. on WPRI-12 or Saturday at 12 p.m. on Fox Providence and again Sunday at 10 a.m.
