PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The Board of Governors for Higher Education's finance committee has voted to freeze tuition and fees at Rhode Island's three public colleges.
The group unanimously approved the preliminary budget at its meeting Thursday night.
To balance their budgets, URI, RIC, and CCRI would need more money from the state next year.
The Providence Journal reports that it's not yet clear whether the Governor and the General Assembly will support that spending plan.
