PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)-- A Providence middle school teacher charged with assaulting police is due in court Tuesday.

Jane O'Connell has been on administrative leave since her arrest in early February .

O'Connell is accused of yelling at and threatening police officers at Seven Moons Restaurant on February 2, North Kingstown police said.

Emergency responders were called to Seven Moons restaurant on Post Road for a report of an intoxicated person who had fallen off a bar stool, police tell Eyewitness News.

When police tried to take O'Connell into custody, she kicked at officers and caused one officer to fall and suffer a concussion, police said.
