PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A fallen hero is one step closer to returning home tonight.
Spc. Dennis Weichel's remains were flown into Dover Air Force Base in Delaware Sunday.
The father of three from Providence died Thursday in Afghanistan in a non-combat related motor vehicle accident.
Spc. Weichel was a member of the Rhode Island National Guard for 11 years.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
