PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Providence man has died after he was hit by a tractor-trailer Friday night.
State Police tell Eyewitness News that they responded to a crash on Interstate 95 near Exit 25 shortly before 11 Friday night.
39 year-old Douglas Moore of Providence had been driving North on the highway when his SUV apparently broke down in the left lane.
A tractor-trailer also headed North struck the SUV and Moore, who had gotten out of the vehicle and was on foot. State Police Lt. Michael Gill said it appears the tractor-trailer moved from the center lane to the left lane to get around the traffic that was slowing near the disabled vehicle, then struck the SUV, which did not have any lights on.
Moore was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a man from Attleboro, was not hurt.
The investigation continues but Gill said it does not appear alcohol played a role in the crash.
