Providence, RI (WPRI) – On Sunday August 19th Providence will host its 2nd Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon.
More than 5,000 runners are expected to participate in the 13.1 mile run.
The course travels through the historical streets of Providence starting and ending on Gaspee Street near the Rhode Island State House.
Some memorable landmarks the race will travel past include the Roger Williams memorial, the Athenaeum Library, India Point Park and Swan Point.
Local bands will be playing live all along the course showcasing their musical talent and motivating the runners through every step.
The race concludes with the headliner band Karmin on the State House Grounds.
The race debuted in 2011 as the largest half-marathon in New England.
