RI man busted in OH with 62lbs of pot

If convicted could face up to 9 years behind bars

DAYTON, OH (WPRI) - A Rhode Island man is busted with over 62 pounds of marijuana worth more than $300,000, during a routine traffic stop in Dayton, Ohio.

Police pulled over Andrew J. Caniglia, 50, of Providence, R.I. on April 15th for a moving violation.

A search revealed 62.5 pounds of marijuana inside Caniglia's rented Grand Marquis. At the same time, police pulled over a Volkswagen Jetta.

That driver, Marc A. Zaccaria, 43, of Danielson, Conn., was charged with complicity to possess marijuana, a second-degree felony and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

Caniglia is also charged with possession of marijuana, a second-degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

If convicted, Caniglia could face up to nine years in prison and up to a $17,500 fine and Zaccaria could face up to two years and a $5,000 fine.
