PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Rhode Island workers who earn minimum wage will see their paychecks increase in the new year.

The minimum wage is set to increase 35 cents to $7.75 an hour on January First. Gov. Lincoln Chafee signed a bill raising the minimum wage back in June.

This will be the first minimum wage increase in Rhode Island since 2007.
