PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Last Tuesday, Rhode Island voters approved $50 million in bonds to renovate classrooms at Rhode Island College.

Today, the school announced those renovations are slated to begin in the spring, with a projected completion of early 2017.

School officials said, $44 million will be used to modernize the college's two largest academic buildings in March.

Another $6 million has been set aside for expansion of a nursing and life sciences building.

The renovation project will be significant.  Some of the buildings slated for work have not seen upgrades since the 1960s.
