Providence to host AHL All-Star game
Game to be played at Dunkin Donuts Center

PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - Providence will play host to the 2013 American Hockey League All-Star game.
The announcement was made today by several officials which included Gov. Lincoln Chafee, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, as well as officials from the AHL, Providence Bruins and Dunkin Donuts Center.
The 2012 All-Star game will mark the first time the Dunkin’ Donuts Center has hosted the contest since 1995.
Back then it was called the Providence Civic Center.
The Providence Bruins, which were established in 1992, are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
They are the top affiliate of the Reigning Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins.
The Providence Bruins themselves won the AHL's Calder Cup Championship in 1999.
The 2012 AHL All-star game was played in January at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
The West All-Stars won, 8-7, in a shootout.
