PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Three teens are recovering after gunfire erupted on a Providence street, the same street where another man was recently murdered.
Eyewitness News has learned that two 14-year-old girls and a 12-year-old boy were injured while sitting on the porch of the Manton Heights Housing Complex on Salmon Street around 8 p.m. Thursday.
The teens' aunt was inside the building at the time of the shooting.
"The only one thing that I see is bullets coming from everywhere 'blow, blow, blow,' we don't see who's shooting. The only one thing I heard was my niece say 'Oh, I got hurt,' three of them say 'Oh I got hurt,'" said Myrlanda Theodore.
One of the three teens struck by a passing bullet was treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital. One of the other bullets nearly hit three other people; two teen girls and a one-year-old sitting on a bed inside an apartment.
"It went through the glass, through the shade, then past us and into the closet. That's where the police officers found the bullet. I don't want to live here anymore because it is not safe," said Keysha Quinones.
On May 30, a shooting on the same street claimed the life of Ralph Joseph.
Earlier this month, police arrested 29-year-old Michael Tully, also known as Michael Vanover, for Joseph's murder.
No arrests have been made in connection with Thursday night's shooting.
The latest shooting comes just days after City Councilor Michael Correia held a neighborhood meeting about the recent violence in the area.
