PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police are on the hunt for suspects after shots were fired at two Providence homes Wednesday night.

According to officers, bullets pierced through the walls of both multi-apartment homes on Comstock Street just after 6:30 p.m. One came within inches of a 6-year-old boy's head and hit a couch, sending stuffing everywhere.

"We just heard a shooting sound, and like three came into the house," said resident Olive Payne.

Payne believes another bullet went through two walls and into a cupboard, through a bag of candy, and into a box of dishes, shattering its contents.

The second home, which also had children inside, took at least two bullets. One hit a wall inside, while the other went into a cabinet.

No one was injured in the incident.

"I'm just thankful everyone was safe," Payne said.

Police are now conducting an investigation and searching for suspects.

They believe someone in or near one of the homes was targeted.
