PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The man investigators consider the "ringleader" in Operation Deception was sentenced Thursday to 20 years with five to serve.
Albert Hamlin pleaded guilty to the drug-dealing charges against him last November.
"This activity of yours was born of greed. It's bad enough that you engaged in this illicit business you did it with a rogue police officer, more than one. One of which was your own brother," said Judge Robert Krause at the sentencing.
Three Providence police officers, including Hamlin's brother, Robert, have either pleaded guilty or no contest to drug charges.
With credit for time served and credit for good behavior, Hamlin could be eligible for parole before the end of the summer.
