PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A National Guard officer was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General Sunday at the State House.
Rhode Island National Guard Colonel David Medeiros was promoted to the rank and assumed to role of the Assistant Adjudant General for the Rhode Island Army National Guard. He passed on command of his unit, the 43rd Military Police Brigade, to Colonel Thomas Clark.
Medeiros has served with the Rhode Island State Police for 20 years and is the Sergeant in Command of the Commercial Enforcement Unit.
Colonel Clark has two overseas deployments with the 43rd MP Brigade, once to Cuba in 2002 and once to Iraq in 2005.
