PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Thanks to a federal grant, the Port of Providence is in line to get a facelift.
Officials announced Monday that two new mobile cranes are in order for the port.
The new state-of-the-art cranes will replace two leased cranes from New Jersey, which are now more than 30 years old.
"We've always dreamed of having two state-of-the-art cranes to bring us to another level," said ProvPort board member Paul Moura. "We're a niche port, but that doesn't mean we can't be the best niche port on the East Coast."
The two cranes are part of a $20 million enhancement project of the Port of Providence.
