PROVIDENCE (WPRI) -- Providence Police were called to a Bank of America branch for a report of a suspicious package Saturday morning.

Bomb squad technicians set up across the street from the branch at 814 Hope Street and deployed a robot to investigate.

Police closed the road and did not allow cars or pedestrians through the area while they worked.

Police and fire crews were clearing the scene shortly before 11 a.m.  Officers told an Eyewitness News crew that the package was a backpack that had been left unattended inside the building.
