PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Providence police have caught two people wanted in connection with two armed robberies that happened within 24 hours of each other.
Providence officers stopped a van on Valley Street at Delaine Street shortly around 12 p.m. after Warwick police broadcast a BOLO for a vehicle wanted in connection with a robbery.
Police said it happened at a Mobil station at 1776 Post Road about half an hour earlier when a white man entered the station, displayed a gun, and left with cash.
Captain Thomas Hannon of the Warwick Police Department said the two people in the van were arrested.
John Chiellini, 29, of West Warwick is in Warwick police custody until he can be arraigned on the armed robbery charge Tuesday, while a female passenger is being held by Providence police on an unrelated charge.
Hannon said that the suspects are also thought to be responsible for another armed robbery in West Greenwich Saturday night.
Workers at the Shell station on Nooseneck Hill Road said they were robbed at about 2:15 Sunday morning, and that about $200 was taken.
