PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The IMAX theater at the Providence Place Mall will reopen this weekend following a three-week renovation.
National Amusements, which operates the theater, said in a release Wednesday it will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Angel Taveras on Friday, and afterward it will open to the public.
According to National Amusements, the revamped IMAX theater has a new screen and digital projector, along with a new sound system. The lobby has also undergone changes, including a renovated concession stand.
The first film scheduled to show in the updated theater Friday is "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island."
