PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The works of six photographers from Rhode Island and Massachusetts who captured the demolition and removal of Interstate 195 in Providence are going on display at City Hall.
"I-195: A Photographic Excavation" features the works of five photographers from Rhode Island and one from Massachusetts.
The exhibit will be on view starting Thursday and run through Aug. 24.
The city says the photography project began in November 2010 when the state transportation department demolished a 5,000-foot stretch of the interstate.
One of the photographers, Paul Shelasky, says he and the others captured the deconstruction of the old highway and ramps in an artistic and documentary way. He says the project not only records the past but also shows how the city's landscape has changed.
