PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Providence police are investigating after a person was shot Saturday afternoon in the capital city.
The 17-year-old male was shot around 12:30 p.m. on June Street. Commander Thomas Oates of the Providence Police Department tells Eyewitness News that the victim told officers that he was walking home from a store when a vehicle pulled up alongside him and fired one shot. That bullet hit the victim in the ankle, and the vehicle fled.
Oates said the boy's injuries are not life-threatening, but that he is not cooperating much further with investigators.
