PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Providence nightclub has had its license revoked in the wake of a fatal shooting on the premises.
The Providence Board of Licenses cited Monet Lounge's history of violence in the past year when it made the decision to revoke the club's license.
The club closed down back in April after a brawl involving more than a dozen people broke out inside and spilled out into the streets of Providence.
Monet reopened in June, but closed down again after two New Bedford men were arrested in a shooting in the club's parking lot . That bout of violence left 38-year-old Jamal Cruz of Wareham dead and a second man injured.
We've learned that a lawyer for the club plans to appeal the ruling.
