PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Besides delivering knowledge throughout the year, several Rhode Island teachers delivered special holiday treats to hundreds of local students Wednesday.
The National Education Association of Rhode Island's "Gingerbread Express" arrived at the William D'Abate Elementary School in Providence with a truck full of donated clothing and gifts.
The program collects toys, clothes, and other items for nearly 2,000 children in low-income areas, based on a wish list for each child.
The donors included students from Westerly to Burrillville, and even some legislators and staffers at the State House and their families.
