PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The head of Meeting Street School has been named a new chairman of Providence's Children and Youth Cabinet .
As community chairman of the organization, John Kelly will provide leadership and support at the executive level and represent the interests of community groups, residents and young people.
Kelly has served as president and CEO of Meeting Street since 1998. He is also vice chairman of the I-195 redevelopment commission.
The other chairs are Susan Lusi, superintendent of the city school system, and Angela Romans, senior education adviser to Mayor Angel Taveras.
The cabinet is a collaborative body that works to improve the lives of city youth in a number of areas.
