PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Providence Mayor Angel Taveras is sending a message to those who tag buildings with graffiti -- and it comes by way of a power washer.
The mayor joined the city's Graffiti Task Force on Tuesday to remove tags from outside Hope High School. He tweeted a picture of himself using a hot-water washer along with other city workers.
The first-term Democrat says he wants to keep Providence free of graffiti and that residents need to take pride in their city to "write the next great comeback story."
He's urging residents to report graffiti by calling 800-TAGGERS.
