Salmonella threat prompts mango recall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Health officials are advising consumers not to eat certain products containing mango due to the potential contamination of salmonella.

Supplier Splendid Products recalled fresh-cut fruit products containing Daniella Brand mangoes after the potential contamination was discovered.

The distributor, Ready Pac Foods, Inc., distributed the products under several brand names, including Ready Pac, Walmart, and Starbucks. The products were distributed in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, and include:

Ready Pac® Super Fruit Blend 6 oz.
UPC: 77745‐23076
Use-by date: 9/8/2012 or earlier

Ready Pac® Gourmet Fruit Bowl 64 oz.
UPC: 77745‐22620
Use-by date: 9/9/2012 or earlier

Starbucks® Seasonal Harvest Fruit Blend 6 oz.
UPC: 62111‐71390
Use-by date: 8/22/2012 through 9/7/2012

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall, though officials advise anyone that has consumed one of these products to contact their healthcare provider.
