PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Providence man says an armed intruder shot at his infant daughter, missing the baby by just inches.

Jose Silva said a man wearing a hockey mask burst into their home at the corner of Almy and Tell Streets Tuesday demanding money. The suspect struck Silva with the gun and demanded money.

When he told the suspect they had nothing of value to steal, Silva said the intruder got angry and fired his gun. The bullet hit the floor just a few inches from Silva's 9-month-old baby girl, who was sitting in a bouncy chair.

"I thought it was a joke, but then he put the gun in my face. When he hit me with the gun, we knew it was real," Silva said. "He got made when he found out I didn't have any money. I think that's why he fired."

Silva's girlfriend, Wandalyz Maldonado, said crime has been getting worse in their Federal Hill neighborhood. She wants police to step up their presence in the area.

Police confirmed Thursday they arrested three people in connection with the crime, including Christina Bartley, 20, who is accused of driving the getaway car. Investigators are looking for a fourth suspect.
