PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A grand jury has indicted a Providence man on charges of manslaughter after police said he punched another man, causing him to fall to his death.

Juan Hernandez is accused of punching 35-year-old Santiago Hernandez -- no relation -- during a fight on a second-floor porch on Sterling Avenue back in August. Santiago Hernandez went over a railing, down fourteen feet, and smashed his skull on the sidewalk. He'd been found bleeding from his head early on a Monday morning.

A grand jury has determined there's sufficient evidence that the case against Juan Hernandez, now 30, can go to trial.

According to Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office, Juan Hernandez has been released on $50,000 surety bail. He's scheduled to be arraigned on the charges March 14.

When the first charges were levied against him, a judge ordered him to surrender his passport.
