JWU breaks ground on new garage
Prov. officials on hand for ceremony

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, Gov. Lincoln Chafee and other dignitaries were on hand as Johnson & Wales University began work on a new downtown parking garage.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the 800-space campus parking garage was held Monday afternoon.
University Chancellor John Bowen and Providence campus President Mim Runey spoke at the event.
The garage is being built at the corner of Richmond and Pine streets in downtown Providence.
Johnson & Wales was founded in 1914. The university has more than 17,000 students enrolled at its campuses in Rhode Island, Florida, Colorado and North Carolina.
