PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A former Rhode Island police chief will be sworn in Monday as the state's newest U.S. Marshal.
Jamie Hainsworth served as the chief of the Glocester Police Department but was nominated in February to replace Colonel Steven O'Donnell, who had left the position to take over as Superintendent of the State Police.
The Senate confirmed the nomination in June, and Hainsworth will be sworn in at a ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at the Federal courthouse in Providence.
The United States Marshals Service is responsible for protecting courthouses, transporting prisoners, and tracking fugitives.
