PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A program aimed at helping Rhode Islanders fend off foreclosure received a big boost Thursday.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced a two-year, $1.57 million grant to Rhode Island Legal Services to fund the Foreclosure Prevention Project.
The program is expected to help more than 3,600 low- and middle-income Rhode Island families facing foreclosure.
The money from the grant comes from the National Mortgage Settlement involving five of the nation's largest mortgage service providers and attorneys general from across the U.S.
