PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - The Department of Labor and Training has made a pitch to the Senate Finance Committee to obtain $15 million in federal funds for the state's unemployment program.
Right now, the state trust fund gets its money through a tax on employers.
It uses that money to pay benefits to Rhode Island residents who are out of work.
