PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A local film maker is making a documentary that aims to educate a nation-wide audience about the homelessness problem here in Providence.

David Angell has been chronicling the sagas of Providence's tent cities, "Hope City" and "Run Amok" among others, in order to bring the stories of the homeless residents to the big screen.

Over time Angell says the residents faced daily struggles with local officials and power struggles within in their own communities. Those who live under the Crawford Street overpass were ordered to leave months ago in preparation for the destruction of the structure, but they remain under the overpass.

Angell is letting the residents of the overpass tell their stories and hopes his documentary will make it to a national audience, to shed light on a serious problem that can has been kept in the dark in Providence.
