PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Blizzard of 2013 is over, but thousands of Southern New Englanders are still feeling its effects.

Between National Grid and NSTAR, the two prominent utility companies in Southern New England, more than 436,000 customers were left without power after the snowstorm passed through the area. Electrical crews from both companies have been working around the clock since Saturday morning, and they have been able to get the majority of their customers back up and running.

Saturday morning, National Grid reported more than 190,000 affected customers, and as of 11:30 a.m. Monday, approximately 24,000 customers remain in the dark. NSTAR reported just over 90,000 outages, down from over 250,000.

Washington County, particularly Charlestown, Narragansett, North Kingstown and South Kingstown, is the most heavily affected area in Rhode Island, with close to 16,000 remaining outages.

National Grid spokesman David Graves said Monday morning that 350 line crews will be working those areas throughout the day. He is asking for customers' continued patience.

"We're still looking to midnight tonight to wrap this up and get our customers back online," he said.

To report an outage, call National Grid at 1-800-465-1212, or for NSTAR, call 1-800-592-2000.
