PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A convicted felon from Providence was ordered back behind bars Thursday on federal gun charges.
A judge sentenced 28-year-old James Herring to serve six years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release once he gets out of prison.
Providence Police say they found a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun during a raid of Herring's home last September. Herring pleaded guilty in federal court in February. He has been in custody since his arrest..
