Pink slips passed out at Citizens Bank
A "couple hundred" of employees were laid off

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Citizens Bank has passed out pink slips to its employees.
A press representative for the bank tells Eyewitness News that "a couple hundred employees across their twelve state footprint were laid off."
The bank is not providing the exact number of layoffs in Rhode Island.
As of March, Citizens employed 4,991 people in RI, making it the state's 7th largest employer.
Citizens Bank is headquartered in Providence at 1 Citizens Plaza. It's parent company, Royal Bank of Scotland is based out of the United Kingdom.
