PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Rhode Island's iconic Big Blue Bug is once again showing off its holiday spirit.
Big Blue Bug Solutions switched on Nibbles Woodaway's lights at a ceremony Tuesday evening. The 4,000 pound insect along Route 95 also sports giant antlers and a flashing red nose.
The parents of Katie DeCubellis also took part in the lighting ceremony. Katie was 13 when she was killed by a drunk driver in 1999. Her parents now run a foundation in her name, aimed at preventing drunk and irresponsible driving.
John DeCubellis said the lighting was a great way to raise awareness about safe driving during the holiday season.
Tuesday marked the 20th anniversary of the Big Blue Bug holiday lighting ceremony.
