Hamlin pleads guilty to drug charges

Four Providence cops arrested in drug sting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The alleged ringleader in the the drug-dealing investigation Operation Deception pleaded guilty to drug-dealing charges against him.

Albert Hamlin made his plea in Providence Superior Court Thursday afternoon. His attorney expects the maximum sentence to be 20 years.

Four Providence police officers were arrested in the undercover bust , including Hamlin's brother, Patrolman Robert Hamlin.

State Police said the four officers either bought drugs from Hamlin, or protected him from arrest. Over a dozen other suspects were nabbed in the case.
