PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A West Warwick man already imprisoned on murder charges in Massachusetts was also charged Friday with the previously unsolved killing of a Providence man.
A grand jury indicted Matthew Gumkowski on murder and arson charges in the May 2011 death of 41-year-old Michael DiRaimo.
Firefighters found DiRaimo stabbed to death as they responded to a fire at a Providence home.
Gumkowski was arrested last July and charged with murdering 50-year-old Joseph Kilrow at an Attleboro rooming house.
Investigators say Gumkowski set a fire at that scene as well, in an apparent attempt to cover-up the murder.
