(WPRI) -- More Americans are expected to hit the road for Thanksgiving this year.
According to AAA, 43.6 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home during the upcoming holiday weekend. That would be an increase of 0.7 percent over last year.
We're told that 90 percent of those traveling are expected to drive to their destinations, as families try to cut costs in this sluggish economy.
AAA says that the average Thanksgiving travel budget this year is just under $500, down $46 from a year ago.
