PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Organizers of Rhode Island's AIDS Walk for Life say the 27th annual event will highlight the need for testing as a means of prevention.

Organizers expect more than 500 walkers to participate Sunday. Proceeds will benefit AIDS Project Rhode Island, which provides a range of services for those living with HIV and AIDS.

The wife of Gov. Lincoln Chafee, first lady Stephanie Chafee, is the honorary chair of the event. She is one of the first nurses in the state to work exclusively with AIDS patients.

The 2.5-mile walk begins and ends at the Statehouse. This year's theme is "Grow Up Healthy and AIDS-Free! Get Tested for HIV!"

Free rapid HIV testing and flu shots will be available.
