Prov. man sentenced on gun charges

Neary Prum was sentenced to 30 months in prison

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Providence man has been sentenced to 30 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Neary Prum was first convicted and sentenced on firearm charges in Rhode Island in 1999.

He will now serve 30 months in federal prison for two additional counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prum will also serve an additional three years of supervised release once he gets out of prison.

According to information released in court on Friday, agents from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) say Prum's wife purchased a firearm from a Rhode Island gun shop.

The ATF assisted by the Providence Police executed a search warrants in October of 2011 and seized a pistol and ammunition.

Prum pleaded guilty in April and admitted in court that the gun and ammunition did belong to him.
