EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police are investigating an attempted murder in East Providence after a woman was found seriously beaten Monday morning.

Officers were called to the scene at 6 Larchwood Drive around 7 a.m. by a family member who discovered the victim. The woman, who is in her late 40's or early 50's, was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital. She is currently listed in critical condition.

A male suspect, around the same age, was later found dead at his work in Seekonk. Investigators are treating his death as an apparent suicide.

Police believe the incident started with some kind of domestic dispute, and say there is no history of violence at the home.
