PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Providence police were called to the area of Prairie Avenue and Broad Street around 11 a.m. Thursday, following reports of a shooting.

"Right here on the corner, or in the back of the building, something happened," says Lee Goldberger, a witness.

Goldberger manages an auto body shop in the area.

He says he saw a man running from the scene.

"I pulled in and there was a gun shot in the back here and they had maybe about 12 Providence cops, they blocked off Diaz liquors and this convenience store and somebody ran through with a hoodie and cut through," says Goldberger.

Police tell Eyewitness News the victim is a 21 year old man.

He was shot in the left forearm and treated at Rhode Island Hospital.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

The only description they have of the shooter is that he is dark skinned, wearing grey sweatpants, a light colored hoodie, and black sneakers.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Providence police.
