PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – There is a new parking policy at Rhode Island College.
The new policy is supposed to make parking easier for students, but they say it isn't working.
The school’s new parking plan assigns lots to commuters or residents based on a color-coordinating system.
You must have a permit to park in the lots, and if you don’t, or are parked in the wrong lot, you will be issued a ticket.
There are about 9,000 students enrolled at RIC and only about 3,600 parking spaces.
Some students say they rather park farther away from their classes to avoid getting a ticket.
There is no cost for parking permits at RIC.
