PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Rhode Island lawmakers heard a new bill on Wednesday that would allow anyone over the age of 18 who is currently serving in the uniformed services of the U.S. military to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.

The measure is sponsored by Representative Thomas Winfield.
