National Grid to raise rates next year

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – According to the Providence Journal National Grid Customers can expect to pay more for electric and gas in the New Year.

The paper reports that state regulators have approved higher rates for customers.

The utility company says electric is going up by three and a half percent and natural gas is going up about five percent.

The new rates will go into effect February first.
