Man robbed, shot, in Providence

29 year-old man shot in leg

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot in an apparent robbery.

Police were called to the scene on Bergen Street around 10:00 p.m. Friday. A neighbor tells Eyewitness News his friend was shot in the leg with a shotgun in his own back yard -- and robbed.

Major Thomas Verdi identified the victim as a 29 year-old Wilfred Ramos, who remains in serious but stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital.  Investigators declined to release many other details on the shooting.

No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
